  • Plug a VGA cable into the video port of your computer and the into the VGA port of your TV....keep in mind you have to have a newer TV that has this capability
A handy shortcut to connect to a projector is to press Ctrl+Windows logo key+P. This displays the Projector settings window where you can choose how to display your desktop.
Click one of four display settings:
    • Show Desktop Only On Computer Display uses your current display (on a laptop, that’s the display in the lid).
    • Duplicate Desktop on Projector shows your desktop on both your current display and a connected projector.
    • Extend Desktop to Projector splits the image between the two displays.
This is useful for displaying your presentation on the projector while displaying your speaking notes on the PC.
    • Show Desktop Only on Projector turns off the current display and displays the desktop only on the projector.

  • The Projector settings window closes.
The new settings take effect immediately.

  •  Once you select one the Projector settings take place immediately and the window closes...
Be sure and set your TV to the proper "Source"- Video 1,2,3 or wherever this feed is coming in....

"GMAIL HAS BEEN DISABLED" - HAS IT HAPPENED TO YOU?

Why Does Gmail Disable Email Accounts?

There are a few reasons as to why you will lose access to your email accounts and more specifically Gmail accounts.
    1. Someone has logged into your account and changed your password and othersecurity related information.
    2. You’ve lost or forgotten password
    3. Unusual activity in your Gmail account that triggers the safety measures designed to keep accounts from being compromised
While Gmail help you much as far as points one and two are concerned but Gmail goes on to elaborate what the unusual activities are and what you can do to get back your disabled Gmail account.

    Unusual Activities?? What Are They?

Gmail terms the following as unusual activities in connection to your email account. Unusual account activity includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP or IMAP in a short period of time. If you’re getting the error message, ‘Lockdown in Sector 4,’ you should be able to access Gmail again after waiting 24 hours.
    2. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back).
    3. Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account.
    4. Leaving multiple instances of Gmail open.
    5. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it’s probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
My Gmail account has been disabled. What do I do?
If your Gmail account has been disabled, then there are three things you can/should do.
    1. Head out to Gmail Help
    2. Contact Google Support
    3. Another Google Accounts Support – This one is specifically for disabled Gmailaccounts.

What Should I Do To Ensure That My Gmail Account Stays With Me?

Here are a few simple steps you can take to ensure that your account stays in your hands, and to improve the chances of regaining access just in case you do have any problems:
    • Don’t share your Gmail password with anyone
    • Don’t respond to messages asking for your login or any other security infomation
    • Always keep the verification number you get when you sign up for Gmail safely
    • If you aren’t able to access your account, try resetting your password
    • If resetting your password doesn’t work, try our account-recovery process
    • If you are locked out of GTalk, then try unlocking your GTalk account
Always ensure that you sign out properly everytime you sign in, especially if you are accessing your mails from a public computer. Remember that this applies to all email service providers, not just Gmail.

Microsoft issues urgent Windows, Office security patches

If you have not done it...do so now...run windows update and download these patches....

It should be noted that there are 12 vulnerabilities with Microsoft's highest exploitability rating," says  Sheldon Malm,  senior director of security at vulnerability management firm Rapid 7. "This certainly raises the bar for customers to plan, test, and rollout these updates more quickly than usual."

How to temporatily disable AVG Free

Just an FYI--whenever you are installing ANYTHING....disable your antivirus program.....especially when installing windows updates......these little buggers have wrecked more machines than I can tell you!

    here's how

To temporarily disable AVG from running in the background open the AVG user interface (double click system tray icon) and then double-click Resident Shield. Under Resident Shield Settings (towards the bottom) remove the tick from the Resident Shield Active box - click Save Changes and exit.

To restart repeat the process in reverse (ie replace the tick).

    Printer Problems....seems endless doesn't it?

Thought I would post a printer problem that seems pretty common.....it prints the test page but nothing else....
Well, that can be a real pain!

Your first option would be to reinstall the print driver-NOT ALL THE SOFTWARE!  Printer software is so generic and drags down the computer.

Restart the computer then....if that still does not solve the problem then look online for your particular brand/model and find out how to RESET it....there is a process....usually it is holding the RESUME button and the POWER ON button in a sequence type situation which is detailed for you based on your manufacturer.

After all, it is just a computer- type contraption anyhow....oh the joys of technology!
